Shree Swanra Integrated Community Development Centre has given vital importance to the reconstruction of safer shelters in partnership with its international donors in line with the government guideline and policy after the devastating earthquake and was able to transfer 2nd tranche cash support to earthquake affected communities. We are working in capacity building through orientation, training, and mass Grassroots Comic Designed by Children Annual Report SSICDC 2073-74 8 awareness activities on earthquake-resistant safe shelter construction and financial and technical support to1305 households for the construction of a permanent shelter in support of save the children, Catholic Relief Services, Care Nepal and LWR. The main aim is to support beneficiaries in the recovery and reconstruction of their shelter according to the Government of Nepal's reconstruction policies. Similarly, all targeted beneficiaries enhanced their skills and knowledge in building back safer constructions through "on-the-job" training and mass awareness. In the year, 959 skill masons were trained on safer shelter through the extensive 10 and 7 days training. The local human resources were trained on the safer shelter to reduce the scarcity of the human resources as reconstruction work was rapid after the earthquake. Similarly, 446 unskilled masons were produced to complement the reconstruction work in the community. As the safer shelters were the vital need of the community after the devastating earthquake 41 SSM and 5 RCC demo houses were constructed. Similarly, ward and VDC level safer shelter construction group was formed and mobilized to ensure the construction of real safe shelter. SSICDC supported the private house reconstruction to 14271 HHs under Socio-technical facilitation for housing reconstruction project with the partnership of UNDP/ODRC funded by the government of India.
